I'm a historian who teaches and writes about the interactions, past and present, of science and technology with society and culture. I created this site as a way of "publishing" work that might not otherwise find a home.

To My Students: Welcome! Feel free to browse here, but remember that to access the readings, assignments, and other material specific to this semester's courses, you need to log into WebCT Vista.

I got my BA from Brown University in 1985 and my PhD from the University of Wisconsin--Madison in 1990. Since 1998, I've been an adjunct professor in the Social and International Studies Department at Southern Polytechnic State University, just north of Atlanta. For more on my background, see my curriculum vita or informal biography.
