General Information

Rape can happen to anyone, at any age, in any place.  The goal of Rape Response is to encourage everyone to become more aware of the truth about sexual assault and how it affects its victims.

Rape is an act of aggression, power and violence.  Sexual acts are used by the rapist to injure and control the victim, whose main focus is survival.

There is no clear picture of a typical rapist.  He could be a neighbor, coworker, even a date.  Or he may be a stranger.

No woman asks to be raped by the way she dresses, talks, or the places that she goes.  ANY intentional, unwanted sexual contact is against the law.

We provide crisis counseling with trained volunteers through a 24-hour crisis line, hospital accompaniment, SANE accompaniment, information and referrals, court accompaniment, survivor support groups, individual counseling, prevention programs, and confidential HIV testing.
