FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. How are you qualified to review movies?
• We here at the thoroughly modern glass and chrome HQ of RR are college educated, with backgrounds in the arts and communications. We’re mostly freelancers, writers and artists. Who am I kidding? It’s just me. But I go to movies and have opinions about them. Not that much to it. Plus I’m here to give you more of an “everyman’s” view of movies, rather than some snotty, funless film critics.
2. If you're just an average movie buff, what's with all the criticism, sarcasm and negativity?
• It’s a cold cruel world out there, and I’m doing my part to add to the misery and oppression of the masses. Besides it costs upwards of $10.00 or more to go to a movie these days, not counting the outrageous cost of assorted tasty niblets and we should all be pretty demanding consumers.
So while a lot of people may not be as critical, it spoils my popcorn when I've paid good money to watch crap that has me rolling my eyes every 10 minutes. YMMV and you're free to write your own reviews if you think I"m too harsh.
3. Ok. But is it right that you accept advertising from movies you’ve panned?
• Yeah sure… er.. no. Sorry, too busy laughing all the way to the bank. What was your question?
4. Seriously, you review movies. Should you really be taking advertising money from film companies or selling DVDs?
• Objectivity. My opinions are just that–mine, and are not for sale. No matter what scandalous amounts of money the movie studios or Google or Amazon want to send my way. But if we’re talking really big bucks, my Swiss bank account number is ...
5. I like your reviews. (Seriously? That’s a first.) Why haven’t you reviewed this movie?
• This is a relatively young site and I’m trying to review the movies of the moment. But given time, and if I see money in it, I may start a “worth the rental” or expand on a Classics section of the archive.
6. Will you start a forum or open to bloggers for comments?
• Doubtful. Forums and boards require a lot of work to monitor, keep people from going to the zoo and just cursing at each other because they disagree on a particular movie review. But there are plenty of other fan-boy sites out there, so you’re sure to find something that works for you. Same goes for a feedback section to the blog archive. It’s a lot of work, and I’m NOT a programmer and really don’t know much about managing a blog with a comment section.
