Don Campbell is Director of Choral Activities at Southern Wesleyan University in Central, South Carolina. Prior to his appointment at SWU, he taught vocal music for 20 years at Redwood High School in Visalia, California
- building the program to 300 students in five choirs.
Dr. Campbell received his Bachelor of Arts degree in music education from California State University, Fullerton, his Master of Arts degree in choral conducting from California State University, Fresno, and his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Arizona State University.
In demand as a choral clinician, Dr. Campbell has traveled to numerous states to conduct choirs and festival choruses. As chorus master for the Tulare County Symphony, he has prepared choruses for performances of Brahms' Deutches Requiem, Handel's Messiah, and Orff's Carmina Burana. As a church musician, Dr Campbell has directed worship at several churches in California and South Carolina. He has also had leading roles in community theatre productions of Man of La Mancha and Fiddler on the Roof.
Active in barbershopping, Dr Campbell has directed
Visalia California's Mighty Oak Chorus and Hanford, California's Kingsmen Chorus, taking the latter to first place in competition. He is currently the Music Director for the Palmetto Statesmen in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
