I found this 62 Impala in 2004. It was behind a fence in a guy's yard just rotting away. I begged my wife in the middle of WalMart to let me buy it. An older gentleman over heard me and told her "Come on don't be mean let him get it". She felt bad and said yes go ahead. Little did she know she didn't get all the words out before I headed for the exit door to buy it. She was a little angry because I didn't give her time to finnish shopping. I paid $500 for the car {what a steal}. After I got the car home me and my boy's started sanding and fixing rust. Man what a job! Next I started messing with the small block that when I bought it was told it was a 1970 -350 turned out to be a 1984-305 big differance! Thanks to MorTec web site I found out what it was. The motor turned out to be junk. Also was told alot of other thigs to that was misleading. I got to talking to one of my wife's uncles about the motor. As it turned out he had a 37ft. motorhome that was destroyed in one of our 2004 hurricanes. That motorhome had a 454 with 52,000 miles that ran great. I worked out a deal with him and bam its mine. Man that motor has the torq. Next I started on the inside what a differance a little work can do. Now I am going back over little things Im not happy with the way they turned out but small things. Future things include a posi rear end, new wheels and tire's, then the AC {living in Florida its a must have} and then the big power booster I alway's dreamed of having on one of my hot rods the 8/71 blower with two demon carb's. But with raising 4 teenagers gotta save up for one thing at a time. If it wasn't for my very loving wife and 4 out of this wold kids I would'nt be this far.
So to my wife and kids Thank You so very much And I love you All.
