About This Station

Where in the heck is it anyways?
This weather station is located in Florence, Alabama, right in the downtown area. I am about a quarter mile north of the Tennessee River, and near the Pine Street and Veterans Drive intersection. Here is a map of the station's approximate location...

A Closer Look...

What kind of station is it, and how do you get your data online?
The weather station is a Davis Vantage Pro 2 and I use Virtual Weather Station and Weatherlink to get my data on the internet. It also uploads my data to Weather Underground (Wunderground ID - KALFLORE15), and CWOP (CWOP ID - CW0168).

What instruments are included with the station, what do they look like, and what do they do?

The components that make up the station are the Display Console, ISS (Integrated Sensor Suite), and Anemometer.

The ISS consists of the rain guage and temp/humidity sensor. I have the fan aspirated radiation shield, so on those hot summer days with light winds, the fan inside the white part on the bottom of the picture pulls air in for the most accurate temp readings possible. The small solar panel charges the unit so the wireless data transmission is possible. The larger solar panel on bottom charges the battery for the fan motor.

In this picture you can see both the ISS and the anemometer which is mounted on the eve of my house.

The anemometer is about 30 ft. high, mounted on a pvc pipe and secured to the house. The anemometer is about 4 feet above the roofline so the wind blowing over the house dosen't affect the readings.
