The Woodville Public Library’s Summer
Reading program: Make a Splash – Read! was a great success. 69
enrolled children attended the programs. The children made crafts and listened
to beach
music before the programs were presented. Each child received a free
t-shirt after attending two programs.

The wrap-up party was held at the Old MacDonald Petting
Zoo in Woodville on July 1, 2010. At the party awards were presented to
the children, 1st through 6th graders for reading the most books. Awards given
for most books read were:
1st grade : Natalie Perkins
2nd grade: Abel Sisk
3rd grade: Hunter Sisk
4th grade: Tommie Sims
5th grade: Kaitlyn Sisk
6th grade: Carlton Morgan

June 16, Lori with Alabama Mountain, Rivers and Streams demonstrated what
pollution does to our drinking
water. Afterwards, the Mobile Dairy Classroom, presented by Amanda
Griffith, showed the children how to milk cows.

June 23, the water party was held. Woodville Volunteer
Fire Department brought a fire truck to spray the kids with cold water.
Games were played and prizes were given out.

June 1, 2010 Woodville Public
Library hosted its open house celebrating its 25th year of service. Many
members from the community and surrounding areas stopped by during the 2 hour
open house and wished the library continuing sucess. During this time
Karen Chambers, Woodville's librarian, awarded Nancy Helms a certificate
of appreciation and reconized her efforts in helping to establish the
library June 1985 and serving
on its board of directors for the past 25 years.

helping make our cookbook fundraiser a tremendous
success! We are completely sold out of the cookbooks!

The library is fully
equipped with over 20,000 books including 500 reference
and genealogy
books, 3 sets of encyclopedias, and many features for the
entire family: accelerated reading books, summer reading program in June
and July for ages 1-12, genealogy section, a copier, and the library now has 7 computers, 6 for the public
l for the staff. The computers have access to the internet via DSL.
The library was awarded The Standard of Excellence Award
by The Alabama Public Library Service.
In 1998 the library received the 1-Star Award, and in 1999 and 2000 they
received the 2-Star Award.

was established October 1984 in the
Bob Jones Community
Center and moved to its current
location in 1989.
