Woodville Library welcomes changes

Published August 4, 2008

Woodville Public Library has recently undergone some technology updates thanks to a grant from the Alabama Public Library Service.

The money allowed the library to computerize its checkout system

“This means that books were put on the computer and will be checked out through the computer system,” said Karen Chambers, librarian.

Book systems were purchased to complete the computerizing process. Connie Cooper served as the consultant for Woodville Library.

The Alabama Public Library sent a consultant, Muriel Lynn, to help with the process of updating the way books are checked out from the library. Two technicians were also send to load the books onto the computers.

The library was closed for only one week in order to complete the process.

A new section has been added to the Woodville Public Library. An Alabama section has been set up in the from room of the library. The room has places for patrons to browse the books, use computers on ancestry.com, and to use microfilm machines to trace ancestries.

The staff and volunteers of the Woodville Public Library are continuing to update the technology at the facility for the community.
