Current Events Assignment

Each grading period you can read and report on current events for bonus points. The reports will be given on Mondays. The articles should come from newspapers or magazines. Do not use advertisements. The articles must contain information about computers or the computer industry (programming, internet, hard drives, C++, etc.). Each article will be worth 5 bonus points.

Do not miss this chance to get bonus points. Do your articles early in the semester because you will not be allowed to have other bonus work later on in the semester just because you discover that you have a low grade.

For each article you must:

• Prepare a typed report. Summarize the article using your own words. Do not plagiarize.
• The typed report must be done in a word processing program. The typed report is not to be prepared during class time. Use font size 12, standard margins, and make the article about half a page long.
• Attach the complete article (with the name of the publication and the date) to the typed report and turn it in on the day that the article is reported on in class. It needs to be cut out before you get to class.
• Give a brief oral report to the class summarizing the article. You will talk about the article using your own words. You will not be allowed to read the article or the report to the class.
• The article needs to be current. (not more than 1 month old)
• Use the following format to type your article:
