Technology / Applications
Computer Technology / Applications (1 credit) is an
in-depth study of application programs that provide students
with tools to assist in cross-curricular problem-solving
projects. Students
will select and integrate appropriate productivity tools
including, but not limited to, word processor, database,
spreadsheet, desktop publishing, presentation graphics,
telecommunications, and draw and paint programs.
Students will deliver the product electronically in a
variety of media, such as, printed copy, monitor display,
Internet documents, and video.
We will begin the year learning about the basics of
computers. We will
learn how to effectively use the Windows XP operating system. We will learn some basics about the hardware in a computer
system. We will use
the calculator, notepad, WordPad, and paint programs that are
part of Windows XP. We
will progress to Microsoft Office applications such as Word,
Access, and Excel. Students
will learn about the Internet, how to effectively use the
Internet and Netiquette. We
will set up an email account and students will be allowed to use
this account to communicate with the teacher, other students,
and themselves at home. |
