Stanly County Amateur Radio Club
(SCARC)
is an affiliated club of the American Radio Relay League.
What is Amateur Radio
Amateur Radio is a fun and exciting hobby with something for everyone. You
can become a licensed amateur radio
operator regardless of your age, gender, or physical condition.
There are several levels of
licenses from the beginner to expert. Each level allows for
greater operating privileges.
Amateur operators use their radio stations to communicate from
their home, cars, boats, and
outdoor locations to make
contact with other operators around the world. They can communicate via
voice, Morse Code (CW),
computers, amateur television,
and
satellites using HF
(High-Frequency
), VHF (Very-High-Frequency
),
and UHF
(Ultra-High-Frequency
)Bands.
Amateur Radio will give you the opportunity to meet other interesting
individuals from all
walks
of life.
Community Service
Amateur Radio
operators enjoy the chance to provide service to their local communities
through planned projects sponsored by their local clubs.
The Stanly County Amateur
Radio Club stays involved with community service by providing radio
communications for parades, foot races, and amateur radio
public awareness events.

Emergency Service
ARES (Amateur Radio
Emergency Service) is a public service organization, whose purpose is to
supply communications during times of emergencies such as: Stanly
County is a member of Area-11 in the Western Branch of North Carolina.
Area-11 counties
are Alexander, Allegany, Cabarrus, Iredell, Rowan, Stanly and Wilkes county.
Question is when an emergency comes, will you
be willing to help the county involved in the emergency or will
you
be the emergency?

Scheduled NETS
The official club meetings
are held on the fourth Thursday of each month at 7PM. The meetings are
located at the Stanly County Community College. A planned program will be
presented at each meeting. Visitors are always
welcome!

Scheduled Nets
A
NET is a scheduled time and frequency for two or more ham radio operators to
meet. The purpose of the NETS are for developing good radio
practices, emergency procedures,
and some are simply
for
informal discussions.
The Stanly County Amateur Radio Club has two weekly NETS. If you are a licensed amateur operator, please feel free to check-in and participate. If you are not licensed, you can listen to the NETS using a scanner or other radio receiver.
