As you can see my name is Michael and one of my hobbies is HTML. I wrote the code and maintain two web sites for a couple of friends. I also made a web site to honor my Mom. You can see my work by going to the links on the left. Also you will find some of my favorite places on the web.

While I was working during the day I got a degree in computer programming going to school at night. This was in the 70's so we learned on punch cards and an IBM main frame. I got my first home PC in 1984. It had a 8086 processor (6 megahertz) and 640K in ram. Computers have come a long way since then. I don't miss working with DOS commands, batch files, and writing programs in basic but at the time I loved it. In the early nineties with Internet access I got into building web pages. Like I said in the first line this is just a hobby now to keep my mind sharp. I never used my programming degree but it was a good foundation for the career I when into, food and beverage management. Due to health problems I no longer work.

Another hobby of mine is handguns and shooting sports. I have had many a hobby over the years but they always cost a lot of money and eventually I got bored with them. I made a friend once, that was into pistol competitions. We became friends and I got into the shooting sports too. This was one of the only hobbies that I have ever had that didn't bore me. Something about an explosion, projecting a small piece of metal at supersonic speeds, and the smell of gunpowder that relieves all my stress better than anything I have ever tried. I know that shooting sports are not for everyone and that there is a huge moral responsibility that goes with owning a gun. Due to some health issues I can no longer go to the range nearly enough. I no longer compete but try to keep my skill level high enough to handle a gun if needed.
