3/13/2012- Topics covered were different types of antennas used in go - box and their setups. Also, lightening /surge protection is another consideration when planning your go-box. Antenna tuners etc needed for HF. Dual band antennas for 2 meters and 440.
3/20/2012 Topics of covered was Packet Tnc / Sound Car.
Main points are stations can be totally automatic. One can send what is called packet mails, upload files/download files and print or saves files. Main point also is 100 % error correction. Speeds are 1200 baud on vhf. 9600 baud on uhf and 300 baud on H.F. Special software is needed to do soundcard packet whereas a tnc does make it easier to do packet.
3/27/2012 Topics covered just getting on the air is a learning a experience. One becomes a better operator by just getting on the air. One doesn't have to be doing ecomm communications. Everytime one learns a new mode or upgrades and uses new modes etc, you become a better operator.
