The Bible was completed 1,900 years ago, and there has never been a generation in the history of the world that has strived with such fervor to forget all we learned in all those years. On 2001/9/11 terrorists attacked what they perceived to be the heart of America's strength: The World Trade Center and the Pentagon, with a possibility of the White House being a target as well. Why didn't they go after the Crystal Cathedral or Willow Creek? Because those huge institutions don't pose any kind of real threat. It is a sign of the poverty of the Church in our age that no religious center was attacked. |
My employer, a very large corporation, values diversity but not tolerance. I think I'm having an existential crisis. It is ironic that a lot of modern science fiction is written by atheists who are somehow unable to create a world without the supernatural. It is one of the great ironies of life that when we are trying to prove ourselves relevant, we prove ourselves irrelevant. Were we actually relevent, we would have no need to try to prove it. |
