That is me, Jack Gantt, standing by the wheel of the only fully restored B24 still flying. I
had over 800 hours in this old warhorse, and it never let me down. Those old Pratt and Whitney engines were great engines.
You know, one of the things that alway amazed me about this old plane was this landing gear and tire. How in the world the
gear and tire took the weight of a 70,000 plane landing, and going instantly from 0 (zero) MPH to around 110 MPH, it still amazes
me.
Anyway, it was great getting back into one of these old birds even if I couldn't fly it again.
It sure brought back so many memories, some bad, thinking of all the friends I lost during the war and some good ones, like
meeting my Dotty while I was flying at Midland, Texas.
