Hi Jack & Dotty,
Well, my goodness! What a nice surprise to receive an e-mail from you with such beautiful pictures in it too. I can't imagine living
in such a beautiful place. I know you realize how lucky you are and blessed.
I am, for the lack of a
better word, affectionately know as the keeper of the Hastings FamilyGenealogy. My husband Bill'and I have been doing this for over
20 years. We do all our own lines and help each other when needed. It's in our blood, I guess. As they say, we are "eat up with it".
I am so proud you are getting this site started for all the rest of us. I will be glad to help you with information and pictures in
any way I can. That will certainly help me with my genealogy research. I hope you get lots of co-operation from all the family. Before
I forget it, you have one name in your e-mail address book that no longer has a computer. It is Berton Green, (bertongreen@webtv.net)
he is my Uncle, my Mother's brother and he gave up his computer not long ago. His health just wouldn't permit him to use it anymore.
There were 7 of the children originally and he is the last one left. He is 93 years old. My Mother was the next to the last living
(the baby) and she passed away Sept. 29, 2006 at almost 90 years old. I come from the Green line which is Mary Elizabeth "Mollie"
Hastings Green. She was the first child of William Wallace Hastings and Margaret Ann Philpott Hastings. She married Willis Scoggin
Green. We got really interested in the Hastings family research after meeting Charles Hastings up in Lubbock, TX several years ago.
We have been to the last 3 or 4 Hastings Reunions in Lubbock. They are in July of every other year. The next one will be this coming
July but I don't know the date. I usually gain a good bit of family information at each Reunion. The first one we attended there wasn't
much family history being exchanged or even mentioned. So when I started asking questions and giving them forms to fill out for their
line they thought I was crazy and wasting my time. Now they bring pictures for others to see and all sorts of info. They can't wait
to go through my books and see what I have added. And of course, they can't wait to find that I have made a mistake in their line
so they can tell me how to correct it. Well, I don't know what else to tell you. If you will let me know what you need from me I will
help anyway I can. I have never done anything with a website like you've started but I think it is great. I am anxious to do my part
and I hope lots of the family will too. As you can see by my e-mail address, I am known as the meanjean!!! Now you must understand
that I am the sweetest little thing you will ever know, I don't know where everyone gets the idea that I am mean. Of course, Charles
Hastings would not agree but what does he know... Bill & Jean Wallace 201 Amy St. Longview, TX 75605 903-663-2508
