this is luxeed. luxeed began sometime around 1999, i think. i had barely been exposed to "noise" as a genre all it's own and was curious to explore it. for the first few years i described my sound projects as having no musical influence as i was completely unfamiliar with any artists producing anything of the like. i simply enjoyed the idea of creating and meshing sounds without restriction. i enjoyed the beauty of the sounds. i was and am no purist. i don't have a hard-on for harsh noise alone. i'm similarly unbound to dark ambient. i don't know enough history to claim that my music is "traditional" industrial. still, i love all of these, and like most artists that make this kind of music i border on and dwell within all of them. Have i gotten pretentious enough yet? luxeed is possibly the least prolific project in existence. in its 5 years it has produced a grand total of 10 songs. that sounds like 2 per year, but really it was about 6 the first year, with the other 4 coming sporadically. since the thrill has always come from hearing the experiments with sounds over time i have become far more familiar with certain artists and projects. i'd like to think that anaphylaxis, raison d'être, brighter death now, and lull have had an impact on my newer material. also now! wave projects like mr. quintron and flossie and the unicorns have had a continued impact from the beginning, as have various metal and punk bands. ideas stolen and inspired by writers such as jack kerouac, henry miller, allen ginsberg and li po have been quite influential and inspirational, though i would have a hard time explaining exactly how. and of course the teachings of jesus, mystics of various traditions, the teachings of lao tzu in the tao te ching, and some of the life and writings of people like emma goldman, alexander berkman and anarchists to this day have kept me moving along with life and with luxeed. new luxeed songs are not common. i only create when i feel the need to and i only share those creations when i enjoy them myself. luxeed has released no albums. in fact i have only a handful of songs. i prefer to keep the music available for free. more history will be added as it occurs. |
