The WhizBang happens the First Saturday of every month 730pm-11pm!!
Now scheduled for April 4, May 2, June 6 and first Saturdays thereafter at the Unitarian Church at 1808 Woodmont in their wonderful, large stone and window room with a big dance floor.

The WhizBang is a fluid community celebration event where dancing, mingling, chanting, Interplay, stillness, laughter, trance, artists, activists, spiritual awareness, improvisation, silly, freedom, meditation, love, peace and joy mix. At the WhizBangs we like to dress festive and fun. We dance and play and trance away. We have a men's dance, a women's, a kid dance and a group belly dance led by Keiya. We parade and conga line too.

Everyone is a Dancer! We LOVE Dancers! Pro dancers are of course SO welcome. We regularly feature Belly Dancers and African dancers.

No cover, but we sure appreciate and need donations to aid the players our staff and the church. $5 if you have it, more if you can, free and our gift to you if ya need it. :-)

Typically, we open the evening with The Love Drums. Then other percussion ensembles like RhythMystik and Drumaluma perform. In betwixt and between we've had stunning artists like PachaMamas, Rose on Vibes, Tom Shiness, Sisters in Harmony, Nashville BellyDrums, HoopRama, fabulous dancers, didjeridu players. Sometimes we play singing bowls and create full group soundscapes, the Frog Dance, jam the Boom Whackers and have Spoken Word. We have the Man Danc and the Woman Dance! We do parades! And of course, the facilitated open community drum circle for everyone during the final hour. Kids are welcome and it's smoke free.

It's a cool eclectic mix strongly flavored by West African, North American and Middle Eastern styles of drumming and dancing.
