The Love Drums Circle is a fun, learning experience and music-making event for all who want to participate. As each individual contributes to the overall rhythm in their own unique manner, a song is made much like the way a community is made with each person contributing in their own unique manner, for the overall betterment of the community, practicing individual freedom but respecting the goals of the community.
Drum Circle participants express themselves collectively by using a chorus of tuned drums, percussion toys, vocals and dance to create musical songs together while having a great time. Drums and percussion toys are provided, and you can bring your own.
Instead of a teacher, there is a facilitator. Ed has years of musical experience and facilitation training. In a Love Drums Circle, we all play improvised rhythms around the heartbeat, the rhythm of our own names, as well as simple orchestrated ethnic rhythms from around the world. And we play rhythm games that challenge and amuse the group.
Music is created in the moment for:
Book Ed for a drum circle and he will show up with a pile of drums and a basket full of bells, wood blocks, rattles, shakers, didgeridus and other neato toys. Making music together is a great experience. You don't have to be a professional with years of training to do that. Everyone can add a part, whether simple or complex. It all goes together for a wonderful experience.
