A few of the great pilots that flew from Henderson Field are shown above.  Not shown are those who gave their lives early on and undoubtedly were just as skilled and brave as those who survived.  Starting in the upper left is John Smith, Marion Carl, Joe Foss, "Pappy" Boyington, Harold Bauer, D. Runyon, Major Gaylor, a group of three - John Smith, Major Gaylor and Marion Carl photographed shortly after the three received decorations from Commander in Chief Chester Nimitz. The next pilot is unknown,  then Commander McCampbel is shown followed by an Army pilot briefing and finally a Torpedo squadron roster.
