A Visit to the Huertgen Forest

 

 The pictures below show American troops advancing along the Kall trail some sixty years ago and to the right,  the same trail as it looks today.

The picture on the left shows the gravesite of PFC Robert Cahow whose remains were discovered some sixty years after he was killed advancing against German lines. Discovered by a German Ordinance Sweeping team and respectfully buried by them with the appropriate inscription.

Here at right is the freshly decorated  grave (November 2002) of New Jersey soldier Fred Villani, pictured below (112th Infantry 28th Division) affectionately care of by "godmother of war" Ragine Villers at the American cemetery of Henri-Chapellei in Belgium.
