During World War II, it was not uncommon to meet photographers on the streets of a big city.  They were ususally rather pretty girls who snapped your picture then tried to get a dollar or some similar amount from you in exchange for a stub that stated that your picture would be mailed to your home address within a week or two.  As can be seen here, this girl delivered as promised.  The picture, that is.
