Foreword: The picture at right and the large picture below show the activity of the medical personnel of both the German and American armies during one of the short truces that was declared
during the Huertgen Forest battle. These truces were declared three different times to try to alleviate the terrible suffering and allow the dead to be removed from the battle field. This odd battle scene displayed the compassion of both sides as both the German and the American medical personnel treated all wounded no matter which side they were on with both Germans and Americans being friendly to one other if for only a few hours.
