Latest Updates

July 28, 2009

We are sorry it has taken so long to get the web page updated this year. But we are back on track and all the information is now current.

At this time we have plenty of room for your best quilting friend. If you know someone who has been considering a few days off to quilt, please pass on this web-address. If you find you will not be able to come, please let us know as soon as possible. Do not pass your space on to a friend without notifying us. The deposit you sent of $45 is not refundable for any reason. If we can fill your space we will be happy to make a refund, minus the deposit. No refunds will be made after October 1st.

There are only a few handicapped accessible rooms available in the Griffith Hotel building. The rooms will be assigned to those with need of the handicapped accessibility. Please make a note on your confirmation form if you need a handicapped room.

The classes have been assigned and there is still room in all of them.

Your confirmation packet including your supply list and balance due form was mailed in July, for those of you who have already registered.

Check-in for the retreat will begin at 4:00pm on Monday, November 9th. The conference center will not have the sewing rooms ready before this time. Please DO NOT arrive early. Monday dinner will be served at 5:30pm. You will need your nametag for meals, so check in at the main entrance of Griffith Hotel before going to the dining room (see map for directions). Someone will be at the registration desk until 8pm. If you arrive late, look for us on the first floor of Griffith Hotel or in the lobby of King Hotel. We can get the paperwork settled later.

Carts for moving your machines and luggage are not available. You may want to consider bringing your own roller cart or packing in small increments. Please register before you unpack so we can direct you to your correct sewing room.

Following supper on Monday evening, come to the King Hotel lobby for a short program. There will be some introductions and information for you as well as a short "Quilt and Tell" of quilts and projects started at previous QRM retreats. Look for a "Quilt and Tell" form at the registration counter or download one here. (Only one item per person please.)

You will have a chance after the program to meet your teacher and get set up for your class. Classes begin at 9:00am Tuesday morning. You may want to consider bringing another project to work on outside of your class time. For your planning, the retreat will end by 11am Thursday morning.

The Conference Center has a few rules we must follow. First, no food is to be stored or prepared in any of the rooms. A snack room set up to take care of between-meal hunger pains. You may want to bring an insulated mug with a lid to fill with ice. There is a refrigerator to store medications if needed. Second, this is a SMOKE FREE campus. There is no smoking in any of the buildings, classrooms or hotel rooms.

At this time we are planning a "stitch and sell" flea market. Space will be available for you to sell your handmade items, quilt stash or other "what-nots" to your fellow attendees. If you are interested in participating you must notify us BEFORE arriving at the retreat. Just add a note to the back of your confirmation form. Space is limited to the first 15 who request a table. ABSOLUTELY NO SELLING will be allowed except in the vendor's rooms or by the teachers. If you want to sell your items you must register for a table at the "stitch and sell".

As in past years, you are receiving fabric to make a block for our "Block Challenge". The rules are listed under the "Block Challenge" tab on the left. Please take time to make a block or two. The blocks will be collected Monday evening.

A massage therapist will again be available for shoulder and neck rubs. The cost will be $15.00 (cash) for 15 minutes. You may sign up for an appointment Monday evening.

The hotel rooms do not have telephones or televisions. However, there are public phones on the property. Cell phones are permitted, but may not work and must be turned off when you are in class. The EMERGENCY phone number for the conference center is (706) 886-3133. This phone is in the office and will be answered by an employee of the center. It is for EMERGENCIES ONLY.

Check out the "What to Bring Checklist" here before you leave home.

If you have any questions please write, call or e-mail. We look forward to seeing you in November.
