Fish Eye Photo recently opened a retail shop on the ground floor of the Den
Laman building. right next to the BD&A diveshop. New features offered
are: photo enlargement, store computers for Photo editing and Internet
access, local art, video shoot on DVD, digital photo courses and extended
sales.

Bonaire Dive & Adventure started with Free Nitrox upgrades for Sand
Dollar Condominium Resort guests in November 2004, the other divers got a 50%
discount on the old price for the upgrade. It was an overwhelming success.
Now BD&A decided to offer FREE NITROX not only to Sand Dollar guests but
to extend the offer to everybody who has a nitrox certification and buys an
air package there! Nitrox courses start at $79 US for the PADI Discover
Nitrox certification.

| The new adventure center, Bonaire Dive & Adventure is headed up by Andre Nahr, former managing director of Sand Dollar Dive & Photo and features many familiar faces from that operation. It is located at the south end of the property and features diving, diving instruction, snorkeling, kayaking, biking, nature tours and more. Ocean’s Classroom features fun and educational activities for kids 6-15. A new pier and guest gear storage area have been constructed in front of the operation. Outdoor lockers allow for convenient 24 hour access to your gear with a drive up tank pick up area. Bari reef, with several entrances directly in front of the resort has the largest variety of species diversity in the Caribbean according to the Reef Environmental Education Foundation (www.reef.org). The new pier allows direct access to the diving activities. | |
Barefoot Internet Center: Bonaire's only barefoot Internet and Chat center, 24 hour drive up wireless internet service (WiFi hot spot for your lap top), cheap phone calls, local crafts, gifts, rental cellular phones, sending and receipt of faxes, downloading digital images, scanning and copies, and a call and message center. Continental’s scheduled round-trip air service departs
Effective January 9, 2007, American Eagle will resume daily service to Bonaire. It currently offers five roundtrip flights from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Bonaire each week. Flights leave San Juan Puerto Rico at 6:50 p.m. and arrive on Bonaire at 8:55 p.m. On the return trip to San Juan, flights depart Bonaire at 7:10 a.m. and arrive San Juan at 9:20 a.m.
The Departure Tax Fee for Those Departing Bonaire by International Air to increase January 1, 2007.
It was decided by the Island Council of Bonaire on December 18, 2006 that the current departure tax, called the PFC (Passenger Facility Charge) will be raised for those departing Bonaire to other international destinations by air. Effective January 1, 2007, this fee will now be FL 57.60 or USD $32.00 per person. Consistent with current practices, Bonaire International Airport, N.V. will collect the fee at the airport tax booth.
