Brutally Honest Terminology
(Last updated 04/19/2010)

I
know there are some folks who will read my article and ask themselves "air-fluffed what?" and "who are the gods of Mount Morality?" This page should help answer those questions.

Think of this page as a working dictionary of some of my terminology. That also means that this page will expand as I use more and more such terminology, so please check back regularly.

"100% pure methane" - Reference to political doublespeak. Much like the gas emitted from cow flagilance, political doublespeak has no solid substance, but leaves a retched odor in its wake.

"Air-fluffed Egos" - Media journalists, usually reserved for television reporters and news anchors.

Alphabet Soup Media - Another reference to reporters, since they usually refer to themselves by a vast collection of letters… ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, MTV, LMNOP..

B16 - Short for Pope Benedict XVI.

Big Brother - A reference to the all-knowing, all-seeing government in George Orwell’s book 1984. Although analogies have been made to Big Brother being likened to communism or socialism (since Orwell wrote the story in 1948), Big Brother has elements seen even in today’s moralists. (See also Big Babysitter)

Big Babysitter - A 1990’s version of Big Brother. The Big Babysitter mentality believes that parents are unable to take care of their own children, so they must rely on a "kinder, gentler" society to do that. Included in the Big Babysitter mentality are theocrats, socialists, liberals, conservatives, and (most notably) members of the Clinton Regime.

"Bitch and Cry Session" - To complain or gripe. Quite often it is for something completely petty and trivial.

"Brutally Honest" - being blunt, completely honest, or to cut the crap. It means getting to the meat of the issue, and telling it as it is, without all of those polite soft language some people want to instill. It hurts sometimes, but that’s why it’s called being brutally honest.

Bubba - Another name for former President William Jefferson Clinton. For those international readers, "Bubba" is an actual Southern name, but in certain parts of New England, it is a derogatory slang for "redneck." (Other names include: King Bill The First, Der Spinmeister, Big Bubba Spin, Grand Zen Master of Spin, Slick Willie, Big Babysitter #1, Narcissus Rex, and "The Worse Bill")

Bush Senior and Bush Junior - The best way to differentiate between President George H. W. Bush and President George W. Bush.

Bush Imperium – A reference to the White House under the leadership of George W. Bush. While not an empire, they certainly carry the markings of one. (Note: the word "Imperium" is an actual Latin word, and it was used to measure political power during the Roman Empire.)

Camp Clinton - Sometimes known as the Clinton Administration, but also includes those fanatically loyal to Clinton.

Clinton Regime - Yet another term for the Clinton Administration, only used in a language referred to unpopular foreign governments.

"Clintonian" - A reference to political spin, with reference to the tactics used by President Bill Clinton and First Lady/Senator Hillary "Banshee" Clinton. (See also "Rovian")

Cons - Short for Conservatives. These are your more intellectual, traditional conservatives, although they are often lumped in with neo-conservatives (see also "Neo-Cons").

Crusaders - Vocal activists, sometimes a polite reference to liberals and conservatives.

Da Big W - The nickname for George W. Bush, 43rd President of the United States of America. Also known as "Junior" or "Bush Junior", in reference to him being the son of George H.W. Bush, the 41st President.

Darth Rove - Also known as Karl Rove, political mastermind of the 2004 re-election campaign for President George W. Bush and a key behind-the-scenes figure in his administration. To fully understand his position in the White House, see the Star Wars file on Darth Sideous.

Dems - Short for Democrats.

"Elected grifters and shysters" - Our elected officials. Also referred to as "Our elected grifters, quacks, and shysters" in case those busybody doctors in government feel a little left out.

Faux Patriots - Those people who think that being patriotism can be forced on others, who think that patriotism is another word for blind mindless loyalty, and who idolize their symbols rather than take their meanings to heart.

"From the wishful thinking mailbag..." - It is a warning that the following statement or comment should be taken lightheartedly. Not every issue is serious, and sometimes a little humor is needed to break the monotony.

Fuster-Cluck - Swap the "F" and "Cl" around and you'll see what it means.

"Getting (his/her/their) Jesus Underoos in a bunch" - Getting pissed off over something completely superficial for no reason whatsoever. Usually this is reserved for conservatives, neo-conservatives, and Christian theocrats, although it can also be used in general for people with enormous egos.

Health Nazis - Those moralists in the healthcare industry who feel that your specific health is their business, even and specifically when you don't ask for their help.

"Hiding behind skirts and diapers" - A reference to the moralists and religious crusaders who hide their actions under the guise of protecting either women or children. It is considered the second oldest excuse in the book behind "I was just following orders". Any two-bit tyrant with delusions of grandeur can excuse their actions under the guise of protecting women and children.

"Gods of Mount Legislation" - Legislators, either federal or state level. Their actions bear resemblance to the old movies about the gods of Greek mythology, and how they would act while sitting upon Mount Olympus. Pious, self-righteous, judgmental on everything and everyone except themselves. (Also known as "Gods of Mount Morality.")

"Gods of Mount Morality" - See "Gods of Mount Legislation."

JP2 - Short for Pope John Paul II.

Joe Six-Pack - Your average individual. (Sometimes referred to as "Joe and Jane Six-Pack".)

Johnny Dimple and Suzy Purebred - the "precious" kids of moralists that can seemingly do no wrong. Often the icon for crusaders that they feel they need to protect at all costs.

Junior - Reference to President George W. Bush

Kleptocracy - A government that is essentially run by corruption and graft. No politician actively advocates for kleptocracy, but their actions certainly create that kind of government, especially when all of the failsafe provisions have been removed. (For best examples, see also: United States Congress)

"Legal Shakedown Experts" - The lawyers who get rich off suing big corporations just so they can reap the settlement money. It's a practice that is otherwise known as EXTORTION, but because it's considered to be legal because it's being practiced by lawyers.

Local Idiots - Another term for local politicians instead of calling them "Town Fathers" or some other patriarchal term. I would much rather call them idiots, because quite often they act and behave like idiots. (See also: Town Idiots, County Idiots, and City Idiots)

Mister Pot meet Mister Kettle - Reference to hypocrisy, as in "the pot calling the kettle black."

Moralism - A belief that there is a strict universal standard of social rules that are without question, which by no coincidence matches the believer’s standards. Moralists can be either liberal or conservative. The difference between a moralist and a person with morals can best expressed this way: A person with morals can decide not to drink alcohol. A moralist will decide that if he or she will not drink alcohol, then nobody else will drink alcohol either.

Moralist - A person who believes in and advocates moralism. (See also Moralism)

Neo-Cons - Short for neo-conservatives. They're worse than conservatives because they have a hair-trigger temper, they don't tolerate dissention, and are in perpetual need to have their butts kicked by someone bigger and stronger than them. Basically they're grown-up versions of schoolyard bullies.

Obamamania - The term used to describe the hype that was generated for Barack Obama during his 2008 Presidential campaign.  It should be noted that "Obamamania" itself officially ended on the day that he was sworn in as President of the United States.

Osama bin Pig-Bastard - Need I say his real name? Osama bin Laden, the rich prick who masterminded the 9/11 terrorist attack on America. A man who should be chopped up into tiny little pieces and then mixed in with pig food.

Recording Oligarchy - The executives of the recording industry and their mercenary attorneys who will settle for nothing less than total control over ALL of the music that you and I hear.

Religious Crusaders - Theocrats, people who wish to advance their religious beliefs over all others without question. (See also "The Religious Wrong")

Reps - Short for Republicans.

Robobore - Al Gore, former Vice President of the United States and once considered the heir apparent to Bill Clinton, who is so wooden he is often mistaken as one of Disneyland's automatons.

"Rovian" - A reference to political tactics, especially those of political consultant and White House staff member Karl Rove.

"Screaming Fits" or "Screaming Tempter Tantrums" - What moralists often throw when they are not allowed to have their way.

Senator Banshee - Another reference to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. She earned this one after one of her little screaming rants.

Stepford Pod Person - The sterile persona that any politician seemingly aspires to be to avoid scandals. Think of the characters in "The Stepford Wives" if they were taken over by the alien pod people in "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers" and you get the perfect candidate for political office. You can also see Stepford Pod People amongst many of the self-righteous religious crusaders when they campaign against sex or free speech.

Talking Heads - Political pundits or talk-show hosts. Best examples include Rush Limbaugh, Tony Snow, Neal Boortz, George Will, David Brinkley. (Yes, even the author of "Brutally Honest" can be considered a talking head too.)

"Target:" - A special focus in Brutally Honest on an issue that may or may not be an issue of the time.

"Tax Exemptions" - A not-so-pleasing reference to children. People seem to pop them out just for the sake of having that tax deduction, and children ARE exempt from paying taxes as long as they are under 18 or aren’t a full-time student.

The 2000 Presidential Fiasco - Otherwise known as the 2000 Presidential Election, which was deliberately held hostage by the Democrats because of their political games in Florida and had to be resolved by the US Supreme Court. Also known as "The 2000 Fiasco".

"The better Bill" - Bill Gates, chairman and founder of Microsoft, as compared to...

"The Worse Bill," namely Bill Clinton. Gates wants you to buy his products. Clinton wants you to buy his load of bull, but will take your money even if you don’t want to buy it..

"The God Squad" - Theocrats with political power. The US version is known as "The Religious Wrong," but there are other versions of this group of religious thugs around the world.

"The outdated one-dimensional political spectrum" - The traditional political spectrum of liberal-moderate-conservative. It is outdated because it doesn’t measure the degree of government seen in the new two-dimensional political spectrum of liberal-moderate-conservative, libertarian-moderate-autocrat.

"The Religious Wrong" - The religious crusaders who think that "right" is more than just their position on the outdated one-dimensional political spectrum.

"Uncle Sam and his fifty spoiled brats" - Usually a reference to both federal and state governments. Uncle Sam being the federal government. The fifty spoiled brats being the state governments.

"Wrong and Gauche" - Another term for the "right and left" sides of the outdated two-dimensional political spectrum.

Zero-Sum Mentality - The thinking that there are only two-sides to any subject, for or against. This black-and-white mentality is often seen in politics to silence dissention. Best example was the zero-sum mentality used by Republicans in the 1996 election by saying "Any vote not for Bob Dole is a vote for Bill Clinton."
