Summer Solstice                                                                                 
The Summer Solstice CD brings you inspiration from the Mayan Daykeepers and Star and Earth beings so that you can go deeply into the spiritual essence of the summer season. The first track is a short introductory section. The second track is a descriptive, celebratory journey through the summer season from the perspective of the Earth Mother, the elemental beings, the plants and animals, the star and planetary beings, and the great spiritual beings of the world.  This part includes some poems and some simple exercises to help you feel into what is going on during the seasonal cycle from a deeper initiatory perspective.  We also we call in the Mayan Daykeepers of the Solstice Day, the goddess Venus to share the crowning of her 584-day cycle, and the Archangels - especially Uriel, guardian of the Summer. Welcome to the Lunasa or Summer Cross-Quarter Newsletter. In it you will find information on what Lunasa is and how to celebrate this time of year, an important discussion about the 3 major eclipses of July and August 2009, and lots of juicy inspiration from the Galactic Core – a new 260-day Sacred Round beginning on July 23, Mayan New Year of 4 Kan (Seed) on July 26, the Season of Oc (Dog) that started on July 12, and much more.

Using This Newsletter
I have been thinking about how to help you make the most of the information that the Mayan Daykeepers, the Stars and Earth want to share with you in our Star of Wisdom Newsletters. For me, the experience of coming to know the spiritual beings of Earth and Sky who live and work in the rhythms of Time and the geometries of Space all around us has transformed my life walk. My hope is that by sharing their messages and insights with you, you can:

To make it most easy to sort through the many items given, I will start each newsletter with the Overview Section that lists Dates to pay attention to and also good periods of time for manifesting. Hopefully this short summary section will point you to sections in the larger body of the newsletter that you can then peruse in more detail, either now or as the dates that interest you arise.

In the Stars
July 21 – The longest Solar Eclipse of the century at 29 deg 27 min Cancer.
This eclipse is the middle of an unusual three eclipses in a row and takes place at 10:35 pm EST on the cusp beginning of a 13 Ahau Portal day, the last day of the 260-day Mayan Calendar cycle. In addition, the Sun, Moon, and South Node conjunction of the eclipse forms a powerful sky alignment called a Yod (finger of God) with the Galactic Core, Pluto, Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron. All this adds up to a day (or night for us) to be very conscious of!

So what really happens spiritually and energetically during an eclipse of the Sun? First of all, the Sun is the luminary that holds the light of our Spirit Self, our I Am, for our world. The Sun brings us Light, warmth, Life, clear seeing and activity. All life and our human will stream towards the Sun in joy and active striving. So when the flow of the Sun's raying energy is blocked or cut off, we and our Earth Mother feel that lack and that shadowing of Spirit Light – even if just for a few minutes (in this case a long 6 minutes and 39 seconds). We could almost say it was like the current to a computer shutting down. It turns off and then will have to reboot itself afterward, to some kind of new state – hopefully, but not automatically, for the better. So we can expect a Solar Eclipse to be a time when the normally continuous flow of the Light of Spirit that keeps our actions in our outer daytime world aligned with the Good and True will be disturbed and cut off.

Also Solar Eclipses have been shown to create higher tides and often an increase in volcanic and earthquake activity in our Earth Mother's body. This phenomenon may be magnified at this July Eclipse as the Moon is at its closest point to the Earth for some time.

So a Solar Eclipse has the quality of releasing, purifying and letting go to prepare the way for the new beginning that each New Moon brings. (A Solar Eclipse always happens at a New Moon time when Sun and Moon are conjunct). In the current eclipse, the purging of the old is emphasized since the Sun and Moon are conjunct the South Node point which focuses on things of the past. Also the eclipse happens in Cancer, the Crab, which tends to cling on to things - especially in the areas of emotions, Mother, home, food and agriculture.

In a lecture called “Human Questions, Cosmic Answers” (available to read on the Rudolf Steiner Archive site), Rudolf Steiner says that our Sun acts like a shield around our Earth sphere that burns up our negative thoughts and energies so that they don't ray out and impact the rest of the cosmos. So during a Solar Eclipse, all that we humans feel and think, consciously or unconsciously, can ray out unrestrained into the cosmic spaces and affect all the beings there. Thus the Eclipse time would be a great moment to hold meditation and prayer for the highest Love and Truth and Beauty in all human hearts to predominate as we send our energy out into the Solar System and the starry worlds.

The eclipse's Mayan Calendar day of 13 Ahau (Sun) brings forth a lovely picture that can help us hold this positive spiritual space. Ahau is the Sun or Solar Master and 13 is the transcendent Spirit number. This golden Cosmic Sun day is also a Portal day (open wide to Spirit) and so is fully aligned with the highest Spirit intentions, with Love and Light. The Galactic energy of this Solar Eclipse easily helps us light up our inner Solar Nature and hold a beautiful golden light in our hearts that will be a delight for the cosmos to receive from us.

The fact that the Galactic Core is part of a Yod alignment to the eclipse point in the heavens will make it easier for these high intentions and images to flow from our Spirit Self into the eclipse event. A Yod is a Y-shaped alignment between three points in the sky that creates a lightning-bolt activation energy between all the planets located at these three points. In this case that means Sun, Moon and South Node at the bottom of the Y, Galactic Core and Pluto on the right arm, and Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron on the left arm. So it seems as if God/Goddess were indeed pointing a finger to this day and the eclipse event. It is as if Spirit was asking us to call forth the energies of the Creator and cosmic solar fire (from Galactic Core and the 13 Ahau energy there), deep transformation (Pluto), higher wisdom (Jupiter), deep Spirit connection (Neptune), and the master healer (Chiron) and to point them all into the Sun, the Moon, and our past patterns held in the South Node in order to effect a very powerful transformation!

If we send these positive energies into the Solar Eclipse event now, we will see the result of that in both the Lunar Eclipse of August 5 and also over the next few years every time this point in the sky is activated by a planet passing over it. This is powerful planetary healing work you can do in these transformative times as we approach the 2012 Turning of the Ages time.
