Calendars let us track the flow of time by paying attention to rhythmical cycles that move through our lives. Ideally, calendars attune us to the natural cycles of our world - the ebb and flow of the phases of the Moon, the dance of the Sun through the seasons, Venus' two lives as morning and evening star. Natural cycles are more fluid and flowing, more multidimensional, and more innately connected to Spirit than the rigid, linear patterns of purely man-made time such as the Gregorian Calendar and the seconds and minutes of clock time.

All cultures in this world that are still close to Nature have preserved and still use their natural and sacred calendar systems - the indigenous peoples of North America, the Chinese, the Tibetans, the Peruvians, etc. I have drawn on two specific cultures to develop the calendar tools I enjoy using.

The Ancient Maya of Mexico and Central America were timekeepers extraordinaire. They had 17 calendars that they followed on a daily basis - calendars that spanned cycles of time as vast as millions of years and inclusive of nearly all the visible planets and many stars. They even had one unique calendar (which is what we usually call the Mayan Calendar) which tracked our connection to the very core of our Milky Way Galaxy. To the Mayans, this galactic core was the home of the one Creator, Hunab Ku. For more information and to order your Mayan Calendar click here. ayan Co

The Celts and Neolithic Pre-Celts of Western Europe created their complex and accurate observatories and calendars on the land in the form of stone circles like Stonehenge in England, and also as barrows or mounds, such as Newgrange in Ireland. These inspiring and powerful sites can be used as observatories to directly site the passage of sun, moon, planets and stars. They are also very accurate calendars that can be used to track the passing of days and seasons, and even predict eclipses and complex planetary events. There is an incredible magic that happens when you observe the harmonious, precise, and beautiful patterns in the heavens during each daily cycle. Soon to be available will be the Starwheel, your own mini version of the ancient stone circle calendars.
