4.  DONALD EDWARD4 JORDAN (CLEMENT HOBSON (HOPSON?)3, WILLIAM2, EDWARD1) was born December 16, 1832 in Person County, North Carolina, and died September 05, 1902 in Winnsboro, South Carolina.  He married CORNELIA ELIZABETH GIFFORD, daughter of SETH GIFFORD and MARY TALBOT.  She was born January 28, 1832 in Falmouth, Massachusetts, and died June 05, 1917.
 
Somewhere in Frances Durant Jordan (Horger)’s line is a C.E. Gi£ford (probably C. Edward Gifford), a great-great-grandfather of Claire Gifford Horger Allen.  This ancestor, C.E. Gifford, was a silversmith; and he made a silver sugar spoon (now belonging to Claire G.H. Allen), on which the front of the handle is written “C.E. Gifford,” and on the back of the handle is written "Patent 1855     Coin      Eddie Gifford."   (On the spoon there are spaces between 1855 and Coin and between Coin and Eddie.)

5.  CLARENCE HENRY5 JORDAN (DONALD EDWARD4, CLEMENT HOBSON (HOPSON?)3, WILLIAM2, EDWARD1) was born March 14, 1867 in Madison, North Carolina/Madison, Rockingham Co., NC, and died July 12, 1938 in Palatka, Florida.  He married ELLA ZERLINE LYNES September 21, 1897 in Savannah, Georgia, daughter of SAMUEL LYNES and FRANCES WATTS.  She was born August 19, 1872, and died January 25, 1956.
 
Clarence Henry Jordan was an Episcopal minister, serving in South Carolina, and at some time moving to Tarpon Springs, Florida. He was in Tarpon Springs by 1932. According to the book, "A Historical Account of the Protestant Episcopa1 Church in South Carolina, 1820-1957", by Albert Sidney Thomas (R.L. Bryan Company: Columbia, S.C., 1957, Rev. Jordan served in the following churches in South Carolina as rector:
  • St. John’s Parish in Berkeley from the spring of 1904 to September, 1906
  • Trinity in Pinopolis from 1905 to October, 1906
  • Church of the Nativity in Union from September, 1906 to about 1913
  • Calvary Church in Glenn Springs from October, 1906 to 1912
  • All Saints’ in Calhoun Falls (now extinct) from 1912 to ab;out 1917
  • Church of the Resurrection in Greenwood from 1912 to 1916
  • Saint Stephen’s in Willington from 1912 to 1916
  • All Saints’ in Clinton  in 1916
  • Trinity Church in Abbeville in 1916
