C.E. Gifford, was a silversmith; and he made a silver sugar spoon
(now belonging to Claire G.H. Allen), on which the front of the
handle is written “C.E. Gifford,” and on the back of the handle is
written "Patent 1855 Coin Eddie
Gifford." (On the
spoon there are spaces between
1855 and Coin and between Coin and Eddie.)
