B.E.E.R. Cruise 2008
Details
Friday, June 6
Arrive at Pensacola Shipyard Marina to rig and launch. Assistance will be around should anyone need help. Once in the water, you will be directed to the best place available to tie up for the evening. PSMC has been great in working with us in the past, for a fee of around $55, you get to rig and launch at a first class ramp, park your tow vehicle and trailer for the duration of the cruise, and have use of the grounds and bath house. For those wanting to come in early or stay a few days after the cruise, the Shipyard will offer the continued use of their facility for $10 a day.
Cajun is putting the menu together, something he is still working on, and the cost of the meal should be around $5.00 per person, and you will be completely stuffed when it's all over and done with. If anyone would like to bring a musical instrument, there will be ample time for some pickin' and grinnin, socializing, lying about how fast your boat will go, and so forth.
Saturday, June 7
Today, we will be heading out of PSMC sometime around mid-morning, remember we will be working on "Island Time" this weekend. Head out into Pensacola Bay and down toward Navy Point, and turn West when you reach the ICW. Once you past Sand Island, instead of turning into the anchorage behind the island, keep sailing about 1/2 mile past the island and pull up on the south side of the ICW, this is known as Sailboat Cove. There is a little over a hundred yards of white sand separting the Gulf of Mexico and the ICW, all for your playing pleasure.
Since this is such a short sail, there is even talk of maybe a few races in the Big Lagoon area, more on this later.
Distance Sailed - 12.2 Miles

Sunday, June 8
Today, we will be departing Sailboat Cove around Island Time:30 and head East in the ICW for about 30 miles. When we reach the Navarre Bridge, turn right and stay between the PVC poles. We will be staying in the anchorage at Juanas Pagada's, with a social gathering at Juana's. There are several restaurants in the area for folks wanting to get off their boats and dine out.
Pay a visit to Juana's web site, the link is below, and take a look at the photographs of their roof rebuild. It was an incredible amount of work to get this great place back in operation, and built much better than before.

Today, we rise and shine from the previous night's festive activities. We will be heading back West along the ICW and stop at the ever popular Quietwater Beach Anchorage. This stop has always be a favorite for the crowd. A few more restaurants to chose from, along with some additional souvenir shops. If the weather starts to turn bad, there is a secluded anchorage just west of the Bob Sykes Bridge, Little Sabine.

Well, it's time for this years B.E.E.R. to come to a close. We will be pulling up anchor and heading back to P.S.M.C. to haul out, un-rig, and head home, hopefully with good memories of another B.E.E.R. Cruise. With a little luck, and good health, hope to many of you back for B.E.E.R. Cruise 2009.
