The Upstate Young Marine program is a not-for-profit 501(C)3 Youth Education and Service Program for boys and girls ages 8 through high school. Our unit is managed by dedicated volunteers and parents. We rely on the support of our community partners to keep this program going strong. The Upstate Young Marines was established on February 19th, 2005. True success of this program is reflected in the young men and women participating in the program as they grow and go on the be the future leaders of our great Nation. The values, teamwork and leadership skills they learn will be utilized throughout their entire lives.

Young Marines Recuit Training

The recruits dressed in Black Sweatshirts & Pants are going through there third day of training...These recruits are so egar to learn new things...They keep up with schoolwork and homework assigned to them by Co. White...The Co checks the homework every drill to insure the recruit has complete the work...

Meeting location:

First and Third Saturday of each month unless otherwise noted on the Schedule page. Meetings are held at the Mauldin Cultural Center, 101 E. Butler Road, Mauldin, SC. 29662.

The mission of the Young Marines is to positively impact America's future by providing quality youth development programs for boys and girls that nurture and develop members into responsible citizens who enjoy, and promote, a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

To impact America's future by providing a unique youth leadership program which nurtures and develops citizens in our communities instilling the core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment.

Young Marines Creed

  • Obey my parents and all others in charge of me whether young or old.
  • Keep myself neat at all times without other people telling me to.
  • Keep myself clean in mind by attending the church of my faith.
  • Keep my mind alert to learn in school, at home or at play.
  • Remember having self-discipline will enable me to control my body and mind in case of an emergency.

About the Young Marines: In 1965: the Young Marines were officially chartered (10/17/65) by the Marine Corps League and became a national youth program. The Young Marines is a youth education and service program for boys and girls, ages 8 through completion of high school. The Young Marines promotes the mental, moral, and physical development of its members. The program focuses on character building, leadership, and promotes a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. The Young Marines is the focal point for the U.S. Marine Corps' youth Drug Demand Reduction efforts.
