VectorNotes is a simple freeform database that stores scraps of data, and a simple text-based "search engine" for retrieving the info. Use it like a legal pad or PIM to store text clips, URL's, phone numbers, and addresses. Search for a keyword in your notes, just like Google(c) or Yahoo(c) searches the Web for bits of useful information in the chaos of the Web.

VectorNotes uses the same method for storing and retrieving info as the human brain. It can store information in a random chaotic way, and quickly retrieve the information by word association. Use VectorNotes as a "memory jogger", much like you use that person with the sharp memory. (Hey honey, what's Uncle Joes new phone number again?)

Installing--

Unzip to any folder and run VectorNotes.exe

Using--

This couldn't be simpler.

*Type in up to 256 characters into the "Address Line" and click "ADD". Your entry will be entered into the large edit box along with the current system date.

*To SEARCH, simply type in a key word or phrase just as you would in Google or Yahoo, and select "Search". Click "Search" again for the next instance.

*"Edit": is to edit your notes. It is possible to edit only when the edit box is checked. Try to avoid using this feature, because your notes do not have to be perfect. I suggest using it only if you spelled a keyword incorrectly.

* "Auto Copy": When checked, simply highlighting any text with the mouse cursor automatically copies it to the Windows clip board. Your selection may then be pasted into any Windows application.

Tips--

*Hover the mouse cursor over the buttons for a brief hover text explanation of their function.

*When adding notes, use one or more logical keywords. Suppose you want to store the telephone number of the Mighty Kitten. Type in "Mighty Kitten Phone 555-5555". When searching, in the unlikely event you forgot MK's name, you can simply search on "phone" and quickly toggle through phone numbers until you remember the name.

*The VectorNotes file will become large and full of empty space, but will still search very quickly. If you wish to archive your notes, simply re-name the "VectorNotes.TXT" file and start over.

The Freeware Credo--

VectorNotes is Freeware in the true Freeware tradition. And of course, it has no Spyware or Adware to drive you crazy.

I will never say "NEVER", but I will say it is my intention to keep VectorNotes forever free. If Microsoft offers me a huge bag of money for it, I'll dump VectorNote's loyal users like a sack of fish heads. Heh heh heh!

Enjoy--

Enjoy VectorNotes, and feel free to send ideas for improvement and tricks you may have learned. And don't be a stranger!
