The Early Bird Family

Birds of a Feather...

Fall, 2006 - The Early Bird family consists of the two parents and four grown-up goslings. They often arrive together early in the morning before any of the other visiting geese arrive (thus their name). Occasionally, they will remain at the lake overnight to roost—the only geese to do so. (I'm sure Sidekick appreciates the company.) This close-knit family keeps their own schedule, but you can still find them among a flock of 50+ geese... the squeaks from the four goslings are unmistakable. As a unit, the family crowds in close to me when feeding the larger flock of 40 to 60 geese.
