Princess, AKA Snooky

Princess came to live with us in September, 2006. She had previously
been living with Mrs. King, a local nature photographer. Mrs. King loved
Princess, whom she called Snooky, with all of her heart. Age can be cruel
to people at times. As she neared 90 year old Mrs. King began having
memory problems. She would forget who Princess was or that she even
had a furkid. She forgot to feed or care for Princess at times. Eventually
Mrs. King had to go live in a nursing home and Princess was taken in by
a friend. She came to our adoption group to have us find Princess a good
home. Unfortunately due to her age and the fact that she was very afraid
when in a cage with people staring at her Princess was not adopted. My
wife Karen and I decided to bring her home to live with us.

Mrs. King missed her a lot so Karen took a photograph of Snooky to her in the nursing home. When she saw her beloved furkid Mrs. King burst into tears and said, "That's my best friend." We later took Princess twice to see her mom. Mrs.King would have trouble recalling who Princess was but she would finally remember and gently stroke her while Princess nuzzled and licked her palm. We tried to reassure Mrs. King that Princess was being well cared for and was acclimating to her new home. In December Mrs. King passed away.I think she was at peace knowing Princess would be looked after but she always longed to be reunited with her little treasure.

We will always look after Mrs. King's gal. After Mrs. King's death, Princess stopped eating and had to finally be put on Prozac awhile. This calmed her and she began eating again. Later we discontinued the Prozac and Princess is doing fine.
