What do we do?
- Medical Missions – 3 times per year,
a medical team, including doctors, dentists, nurses and support staff,
travels from Georgia to Hinche to treat thousands of patients.
- Medical Clinic – The Whitney Clinic,
staffed by a Haitian doctor and several clinic staff members, allows us to
provide continuous medical care 5 days per week.
- Dental Clinic – The newly completed
dental clinic, housed within the Whitney Clinic, is a huge step forward for
the community. This dental clinic will be the best in the central plateau
and one of the best in the country.
- Soup Kitchen – Currently feeding 100
families, 4 days per week.
- Clean Water – Our Gift of Water program
provides clean, safe drinking water to hundreds of families in an area where
the public water is dangerously contaminated.
- Children’s Scholarship Fund – Most
parents cannot afford tuition for their children. By sponsoring a child’s
schooling, an entire family is helped.
- Medicine/Medical Supplies – Large
quantities of drugs and medical supplies are shipped to Hinche to support
the medical missions and clinic.
What's on the horizon for St. Monica's
Twinning efforts?
- Expand our soup kitchen service to more days
to feed more people
- Hire a full-time Haitian dentist to work in
the new dental clinic
- Provide medicine and medical care to more
needy people
- Expand efforts to bring clean drinking water
to more people to prevent deadly diseases
