Neko and Gato (male neuter) were littermates born in March 1997. Their first owners had to leave on a missionary trip to Japan, and couldn't take the kittens with them. We volunteered to give them a home, so they wouldn't have to be separated. Neko lived until June 3, 2000, when he got hit by a car. He is greatly missed. His brother Gato is still doing very well, and is very loving and affectionate. Gato escorts us to our vegetable garden, and supervises the sowing, weeding, and harvesting.
Nutmeg (female spay) was born sometime in the fall of 1996 -- we estimate September or October. She arrived on our doorstep August of 1997, needing a home. We don't know who threw her out, but we're very glad to have her here with us. In the picture below, you can see that she's well able to give lessons on lounging around the house!
Amber (female spay) was born May 1999. On July 11, 1999 I went outside to investigate when I heard a loud feline wailing in the back yard. I discovered a little red tabby kitten about 15 feet up in a sweetgum tree. I spoke kindly to her, and she mewed plaintively and skittered down the tree to get to me, falling the last nine feet. She landed with a little kitty "oof" and came running to me. Who could resist such a sweet little one? She was named "Amber" because she's amber from head-to-toe, and because the Latin name for sweetgum trees is liquidambar grandiflora. Turning ambar to "Amber" seemed a logical thing to do, and it matches her amber coloring.
Titus (Russian Blue, male neuter) was born approximately 1994. joined our furry crew when a colleague of Frank's sent an email out with the news that one "slightly used cat" needed a home. He arrived May 18, 2002.
Pepper (female spay) arrived on her own one spring day in 2004, and was determined to be adopted by us. After hanging around for days, she edged closer and closer to us any time we were outside giving the other two furkids skritches and attention, finally winning us over and establishing herself as part of the household. We estimate her age to be around three or four.

Sidney (male neuter) was born June 1988 and is currently the eldest cat. We got him from a pet store in Oklahoma, where he was confined in a cage so small he couldn't stand up. The story we got from one of the store staff is that he was thrown out, and brought to the store in an effort to find him a home. When we first brought him home, he was so out of shape he couldn't even jump up onto our bed. Within two weeks he was happily racing around the house, jumping anywhere he wished with ease.
Cookie (female spay) was born April 5, 1983 and was the first calico I ever had. My husband gave her to me before we were even dating, and she stayed with my parents after I got married in 1987. When we bought my parents' house in August 1997, Cookie got to stay here with us, so she became my cat once again. She lived a long and good life, and had to be put to sleep on January 5, 2000 when her kidneys gave out.
Neko (male neuter) was born in March 1997 and died June 3, 2000 when he was hit by a car. He was a sweet, gentle soul who is greatly missed. His littermate, Gato, is still with us and doing fine.
Westminster (male neuter) was born July 16, 1999. He was a sealpoint Birman, and was a wonderful cat companion. He died of FIP in late 2001.
