Description

Shackle is an AutoLisp program with a command named SHACKLE, by CadToolChest FREE, which functions within AutoCAD 2011 (should also function in 2002 through 2010, and possibly earlier).  It constructs 2D or 3D Crosby 2130-ANCHOR, 2140-ANCHOR and 2150-CHAIN shackles via dialog box selection.  Only visible object are constructed in the 2d views (no hidden objects).  The objects are constructed on the current layer, using the current color and line type.

Note:   Shackle currently requires 3 data files, one for year 2002, one for year 2005, and one for year 2006.  All are included in the ZIP download along with the Dialog Box (.dcl) and slide library (.slb) files.  All must reside together in a folder that is in the AutoCAD Search Path.

In the dialog, select the year of the Crosby Catalog.  Believe it or not, there are dimensional differences for the same shackle in these Catalogs.  Then select the shackle style (currently 2130, 2140, and 2150 are available).  Select one of the 2D views, or choose to construct a 3D shackle.  Select the shackle size.  In the right hand column, the dimensions and weight of the selected shackle are displayed for reference purposes.

Take note of the red dots and the white numbers in the displayed image.  Number 1 is where you must first pick when prompted after pressing the OK button.  This point anchors the shackle.  Points 2 and 3 are points in the general directions that define the shackle orientation.  Three points are required for 2d-Front and 3D.   The others require only two points.

2D objects are drawn parallel to the current xy plane with the first pick defining the placement.  3D objects will be constructed in the plane defined by the three picked points.

Command Prompts:

After clicking the OK button, the following prompts are issued, depending on which view was selected.

Pick shackle attachment point/<quit>:

Pick direction of shackle eye/Quit/<repick attachment point>:

Pick direction of the bolt head/Quit/<repick eye direction point>:

For 2D-Side and 3D, all three prompts are issued.  For the other 2D views, the first, and one of the other prompts, are issued, depending on which view.
